*********************************************************************** XE Ryder's Scamp Desktop Theme For Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP Version 1.0.3 Created 5-20-00 by XE Ryder Copyright & Trademark 2000 by CASE Enterprises (Updated 12-10-02 by XE Ryder) *********************************************************************** Intro- The Scamp theme is designed to slip right into your windows environment without causing any undue stress on the user (you). It contains cool icons for My Computer, My Documents, Network Neighborhood, Recycle Bin Full & Empty. There are cool Mopar sounds for everything all based on real sounds from our cars. A couple even came from some Sat Night Street Races! Recently added were animated cursors for busy and working in background. Includes a special color scheme of course. There is wallpaper and pointers for each function too, I may make some really trick cursors later on. Hope you like it. System Requirements- You must be running Win95 with the Plus! pack, Desktop Themes Support installed or Win98 with Desktop Themes Support installed. You must also have the "Open GL" screensavers installed. If you are running anything newer than Win 98 you automaticly have support for Themes. You may need administrator privledges on some machines. The wallpaper is designed for use on an 800x600 16 bit color or better desktop. If you have Win98 but do not have Themes support or Open GL screen savers installed, you can add them by going to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs icon - Windows Setup binder tab. If you have Win95 and do not have the Plus! pack installed, you'll have to manually designate all the sounds, pointers & wallpaper & will not be able to use the new icons or screen saver. Installing- First unzip the file "xescthem.zip" right into your "C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\" directory. This can be easily done with any of the popular Zip/Unzip programs. Next, open control panel and click your Desktop Themes icon. Once you are in the Desktop Themes window, click the drop down arrow next to "Current Windows Settings" at the top and scroll all the way to the bottom. Select "XE-Scamp.theme", click apply at the lower right and watch your system Rev-up! Fine Tuning- OK, lets bump the timing of your system up a couple degrees! Close the Control Panel and from your desktop take a look at your icons. Did they all appear? You may have to change the desktop "My Documents" icon manually if you have Win98. To do this, RIGHT click anywhere on the middle of the desktop and choose "Properties" from the short menu that appears. Your "Display Properties" window should appear. Look for the binder tab that says "Effects", it is usally the 3rd one from the left, but may be moved depending on your video card, etc. You may want to make sure the check box halfway down the page for "Show icons using all possible colors" is checked while your here. Now you should see the boring "folder" icon for "My Documents", click on it, then the "Change Icon" button. You will have to direct the computer to the new icon by clicking the "Browse" button, and then the drop down arrow so you can find the "C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\" directory. Once there, scroll over to the right until you find the "xe-mydocs.ico" file. Click it, then the "OK" button a couple times to get out of each window. NOTE: Should you wish to change it back later, go back to the "Effects" binder tab and click the "Default Icon" button. Known Issues- The screen saver used in the theme is the Open GL 3D Text screen saver. Some systems have been known to hang when a machine went from screen saver to suspend/standby mode or "woke-up". THIS IS NOT CAUSED BY MY THEME, it is an existing issue with the screen saver. If you arn't sure whether or not your system has this problem, you may run the theme, and if it DOES hang, hit the Control & Alt & Delete key sequence One Time Only! This will wake the machine and bring up the close program dialog box. It will most likely show "3D Screen Saver (not responding)" at the top. Click it then the "End Task" button. You may want to check your video card drivers and power management settings in Control Panel & BIOS to correct it. It is recommended you change the screen saver if this problem occurs repeatedly, because it would be a nuisance!
