XE Ryder's 1971 Scamp

See it Then

Several years ago, I came home and found an interesting message on my answering machine. A gentleman said that he had heard I liked Mopars, and wanted to know if I might be interested in purchasing his Mother's car. I asked several questions and learned that they were the original owners of a 1971 Plymouth Scamp. Cyril & Betty had bought it brand new, in that funky green Plymouth bathed half the cars of that era with (which is called "Amber Sherwood Iridite" Yipes!). To be perfectly honest, I wasn't all that interested until I saw how clean it was, learned that it had the optional V-8, was smog exempt, and had only 69,000 original miles on it. Cyril had the Dealership remove the "Scamp" stickers when he bought it "so it didn't look so racey". Little did any of us know a clean Scamp was hiding right under our noses! After some negotiating (and groveling) I picked it up for $1500! They keep in touch and see the car occasionally, they're quite happy with what I have done. They won't go for a ride, but they love the car and once had me do a huge smoker in their quiet neighborhood! They are pictured down below with the car, GREAT people by the way.

This picture was taken at "Cruise Night Car Show", when the car was "box stock"
